A Fire Certificate is a certificate issued to premises classified as designated premises. All designated premises are required to obtain a Fire Certificate issued by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM). The categories of designated premises are as follows:

For new premises, an application shall be submitted immediately upon obtaining the Certificate of Fitness (CF), Temporary Certificate of Fitness (TCF), or Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC).
Applications may be submitted at the State JBPM Headquarters or the Fire Zone Office where the designated premises are located, which is responsible for processing Fire Certificate applications.
Applicants are required to submit an application using Form I together with the following documents:
JBPM will schedule an inspection date for the designated premises. If all Fire Safety Installation systems are found to be in good and satisfactory condition, the Fire Certificate will be issued within five (5) working days after payment of the prescribed fee. A Fire Certificate issued for a designated premises shall remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months.
All designated premises shall be connected electrically or by telephone to the nearest Fire and Rescue Station through a switchboard to ensure immediate and automatic transmission of fire alarms in the event of an emergency.
A Fire Certificate is valid for one (1) year from the date of issue and must be renewed annually.
Applications for the renewal of a Fire Certificate shall be submitted using Form III and must be made not less than thirty (30) days before the expiry date of the Fire Certificate. The renewal fee is fifty percent (50%) of the initial Fire Certificate fee.
Applications for the renewal of a Fire Certificate submitted less than thirty (30) days before the expiry date may be subject to a late penalty of RM100.00. Applications submitted after the expiry date shall be treated as a new Fire Certificate application and must be submitted using Form I. The full fee applicable to a first-time application shall be charged.
